Meet the speaker: Dennis von Elgg, LAc., is an acupuncturist, educator, and author who has spent more than three decades exploring the intersection of Traditional Chinese Medicine, modern medical science, and the human experience. He practices in West Sonoma County, where he has dedicated his career to helping patients understand the relationship between psychological well-being and cardiovascular health—and the positive outcomes that can emerge when the two are brought into greater harmony.
About the class: This two-hour course bridges classical Chinese medicine and contemporary cardiology through the lens of psychocardiology, examining how conditions such as takotsubo cardiomyopathy, low heart rate variability, and Type D personality intersect with the TCM concepts of Jing, Qi, Shen, and Blood. Drawing on classical sources — the Su Wen, Ling Shu, and Nan Jing — alongside modern diagnostics like lipid panels, electrocardiograms, and coronary artery calcium scores, participants will explore pattern differentiation, including Blood Stasis, Phlegm Obstruction, and Yin Deficiency, through real-world clinical case material.

Welcome new Bronze Partner, ACCHS!
Founded in 1982 in Oakland, the Academy of Chinese Culture & Health Sciences (ACCHS) has been educating and advancing acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine for more than four decades.
We are proud to be one of only 8 institutions in the U.S. continuing to offer an active DAOM program—an increasingly rare advanced-practice doctoral pathway for licensed acupuncturists.
With the ACCHS DAOM, you can deepen your TCM knowledge, advance your clinical expertise, explore advanced practice, and grow as a practitioner, educator, and leader.
We’re also pleased to offer a 20% tuition discount to qualified licensed acupuncturists holding a master’s degree who enroll in our newly established program, ACCHS DAcCHM Bridge Program.
The DAcCHM Bridge Program is a two-term, online, asynchronous program designed for qualified practitioners who have completed 90 undergraduate semester units and hold a Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine or an equivalent degree.
The Bridge pathway allows you to move into doctoral-level study without repeating foundational coursework, while continuing your professional practice.
Through advanced study in integrative diagnostics, systems-based medicine, Chinese herbal medicine, and clinical leadership, you can expand your knowledge and prepare for the evolving role of TCM in modern healthcare.
Qualified licensed acupuncturists with a master’s degree: Enjoy 20% off tuition.
ACCHS sincerely thanks CSOMA for bringing our professional community together and creating opportunities for us to connect, learn, advocate, and strengthen our profession.
